Patzcuaro.....ghost town.....

Driving around town the last few days, there were empty streets devoid of cars, vendors and people.
Seems that the Pueblo Magico people from Mexico City were suppose to show up and check out the town to renew it's status as one of the many magical towns in Mexico. That means money for Patzcuaro in some of it's tourist related programs....free money!

In the small plaza there are usually tons of cars, street vendors on the sidewalks, various food vendors spilling out onto the sidewalk...but not today.

It actually looked really nice!
In front of the Basilica there are usually about 50 vendors with blue tarps strung out, with their cars parked on the street....
today, nada....

There was an article in one of the papers that had mentioned that the city was trying to clamp down on the unauthorized vendors that block the sidewalks and impede traffic...
