When I start looking like Moe from the 3 Stooges, it's time for a hair cut.My last hair cut was in the states from the barber that I had gone to without hesitation for over 4 decades. He's still there, when I started going to him in the 70's a haircut was about 10 bucks.
I left there last time with tip, it was $ 25. It takes him almost a half hour to do the job and I look nice for the rest of the day......
Real Spiffy.
Then the next day, it looks about how I look after leaving my haircut today.
One day removed from Spiffy.
The big difference is that the hair cut was 24 pesos. And it took about 10 minutes, give or take. But here she trimmed my neck hair with a fresh razor.....NOB, insurance won't allow that. Not at least unless they charge another 10 bucks.
That's two bucks, two dollars, two clams, two greenbacks, you get the picture...........
For what I paid for the hair cut in Northern California I can have almost a whole year in Patzcuaro.
When I was younger, it would have mattered exactly how Spiffy the cut was, but today in the land of so-what, it's not a big priority. Not at least for me. A clean pair of trousers, shirt and shave is the key to acceptability.
So in the big log book of cost to live, you can enter a 2 buck hair cut, a nice meal for 3 bucks which includes fresh orange juice, another 10 pesos for a little cup of ice cream to enjoy while you sit on the concrete bench in the plaza and watch the world go by.....................priceless.

Haircuts just do not seem to matter that much any more. A few weeks ago, I went to my barber. The young man in front of me must have spent at least three minutes describing what he wanted. He then guided the barber step by step through the process. To me, it is just hair -- and it needs about as much care as clipping my nails.

Tancho, you have failed to mention that the barbers at "Estética Revive" are actually barberettes. There's something about a woman's touch on your neck while it's being shaved. I always feel revived myself when they are done.

My favorite 'stylist' was killed by the Manson family. He was also a friend. This put a different slant on getting my hair cut for some years. It was having a bad memory drummed up each time I should have been enjoying being beautified.
Some years later I married 'my' barber - and she still cuts a good head of hair and sports one as well ;-)
Sr. Cuevas, I fail at a lot of things, I did see your post of the barberettes, I almost thought of copying it, but figured your royalties would be way to expensive.

Wow that is interesting, since you were in LA you were part of the "beautiful people" anyway, so it probably didn't matter that much...
Huum, maybe I'll give my wife a try, she always says she can cut my hair.... It's will always grow back, but for 24 pesos, I do get them to shave and touch my neck like Cuevas says...
