A hush falls over the evening.....

We usually do not go into town after mid or late afternoon.
But sometimes we need to for some thing or another, so we combine it with dinner out, you know a night on the town......

Ok, how about a night on the plaza.

It has been cool and the plaza at 7 at night is deserted. Under the arches there are usually some chairs and people and merchants.
Not at 7.

We had dinner at one of the places on the plaza and wandered around. It is such a contrast of wandering during the day that I just had to snap a picture.

Quiet, tranquil, calm and mellow. A nice time to wander around with the wife. Kind of a different scene than during the day. And even more different than on a busy holiday.

We are rarely in P√°tzcuaro in the evening, but when we are, we like to have atole de grano from one of the two ladies stirring the clay pots over a charcoal brazier. They are on the corner of the Plaza Chica near Calle Iturbe, not far from the Gran Hotel.

The soup is simple but good, and the whole ambience is tranquil.

Saludos,
Don Cuevas

Never tried theirs, but now I know to look them up next evening time we may wander that direction...

This cooler weather seems to drive people from open-air restaurants. Except for the newly-arrived Canadians in Melaque, who mistake our chill spell for warm weather.

Steve, When you drop by Patzcuaro, you will notice we are shy on "open air" places, since evenings are always cool, and so are the days if you miss the sun rays shining on your sweater.....

Kind of looks chilly. No one equates Mexico to having cold zones.

The Gringo population of P√°tzcuaro is rarely seen in the latter part of the afternoons on into the evenings. They are almost exclusively visible in the mornings. I am an exception, doing precisely the opposite.

Jerry: The reason for that is everyone thinks of beaches and tropical jungle when they think of Mexico. It's an error.

Well Calypso, don't come here for the food...we don't have too many great restaurants. I can count the decent ones on one hand...but do come here for the beautiful forests, lakes and good climate!
Felipe,
The main reason anyone comes to town early is to get the decent produce at the mercado...if one comes there anytime in the afternoon, the pickins are slim to non existent.... But I will have to agree with you that the evening and late afternoon is a great time to show up, less people and one can always find a seat at one of the local hangouts....

Tancho - Then you come here to Puerto - many fine restaurants - and we haven't branched out beyond town much yet either - come on down!

Let me brush that by LaSenora, we may be knocking on your door, with a few wiener dogs in our laps....
