News at 11

Turn on the TV this weekend and all you see is some reporter standing in the street, no rain, but windy and some water in the street.

They even preempted my must see program Sunday Morning On CBS to have pictures for 1.5 hours of wet streets.

Come on, its a hurricane but the rest of the east coast , is use to them. It was funny to see the hoopla on the earthquake that hit New York.....the sky is falling...the sky is falling...people were even thinking it was a terrorist attach.

What have the people been fed in the media all these years? Panic in the Streets. Just like one of my favorites subjects... Violins in The Streets of Mexico..... ( that's reference to the late Gilda Radner)

When people see me one of the questions comes up is the violence in Mexico.

I think I will put together a journal of the violence and killings in Northern California and whip it out each time I am asked that question.

A few days ago I had stopped by a business that I use to visit regularly years ago and upon discussing the Mexico situation one of the people there said that to the average American the only news they hear about Mexico is all bad.

You would think that the news media would present divergent views. But we all know that would only bring rational thinking and the absence of knee jerk reactions.

At least my generation ferreted out the information from various sources and we were not spoon fed this so called information.

Another Marijuana related killing.................

From The Press Democrat

Fort Bragg, Mendocino County which is north of San Francisco had a killing yesterday, They are presently looking for the shooters and deputies also had found the body of a victim, according to a source close to the investigation.

Allman Sunday wouldn’t comment on further details, including the name of the victim.

City officials Saturday said the man killed was Jere Melo, a City Council member and former mayor of the town.

Melo works for Campbell Timber Management company and was out walking property with another man Saturday when the gunfire erupted.

The other man got away and called for help, launching the search and investigation.

I think they are going to cry wolf too many times on the hurricane front. People will (are) tire(d) of the warnings with no storm behind them.

Heading back to Mexico today - should cross the border tomorrow - looking forward to getting home ;-)

Bad news is that only thing that is seen on TV, ergo, I no longer watch the news on TV plain and simple.

I was watching tv last night, as an on the scene reporter described the slowly rising waters at Marmaroneck, NY. The key was obviously getting off as he described the inch by inch increase in water levels. I swear, he was wide eyed and drooling.

I have had enough tv exposure in the last two weeks to last me a lifetime.

Being the in the news biz in the 60's we never did stuff like that...the constant over and over of non news is truly nauseating.
I can't believe the non-news of these people.

Calypso, safe trip, I envy you, we are stuck here for a few more weeks.

Jerry, indeed there is not much to watch, cept the old time movies...

Sr. Cuevas, funny to see these guys build up non new and make it last for hours on end...

I meant to write" guy", not "key".

Hurricane effects in our neighborhood of suburban, NJ were limited. Some downed tree limbs, nothing more

We've been preaching the Mexican gospel in New Orleans for years...about how safe the country is and how nice the people. During that time we have been to Queretaro, Guanajuato, Morelia, San Miguel de Allende, Mexico City and Patzcuaro (twice). We look forward to our next visit to Patzcuaro and maybe a home purchase. Maybe we can take a cooking course. Stay well, my friend. Craig & Debra Johnson
