Mexican Ingenuity
Gotta hand it to them, if there is anything that is lacking some one will find a way to make a peso with it!
I use to get my truck washed when it was really dirty down at the Plaza Grande in Patzcuaro, while you get the truck washed you also garner a valuable parking space sometime......
.
It is usually 20 pesos and it is a fair attempt at a wash job.
At least you won't look like you came from the killing fields with 3 years of dirt crusted on the truck as you pull into the Soriana parking lot.
The last couple of times I have pulled into the parking lot in Morelia, I have been attacked with the Mobile Wash Brigade from the Outer Limits.
They cruse the lot, hiding behind large SUV's until you are walking away from your locked vehicle, then you hear the screeching of tires, and offers to clean your vehicle....."spotless...... like a new vehicle......."
Oh, will you take the dings and scratches that my last visit to the parking lot attracted?
I think not......
No more old 5 gallon empty paint bucket filled with some form of H2O, now it is a cleverly engineered mobile wash station.
This particular parking lot has a fleet of about 5 of them, carefully perusing the lot able to pounce on you at a moments notice, a wash job that should last at least 60 minutes or 5 miles whichever is first, to hit a patch of dusty street pavement.
Two overalled uninformed wash engineers take command of the job, and while you are sipping some watered down overly price coffee at the Sanborns, you car will be tended to.
Too easy if you ask me, I rather have the grubby looking guy with a old paint bucket wash mine in Patzcuaro.
Here I envision a corporate mega washamenia , a garage with 100 of these wash mobiles, run by some corporate executive who is removed from the job, only in touch via his cell phone while he plays at the local Morelia golf course. They depart under the cloak of darkness each morning at 6 am, taking command of parking lots through out the city, quotas set, dire punishment for those who return without the mobile coffers filled to overflowing.......
I'll support my independent wash tycoon at the Plaza, thank you!

There's a guy who has a car wash across from el la Camionera Central in Pátzcuaro. He and his sons will wash the outside and vacuum the inside of your vehicle for $35 to $50 pesos, depending on the size.
Además, él habla inglés.
Saludos,
Don Cuevas
Supporting the local guy sounds like a good idea.
Yeah, and if the price of a car wash goes any higher I am going to quit my day job and start washing cars!
You rich Gringos! 50 pesos for a car wash?
And no parking space.....That one mush be a really good wash experience Don Cuevas!
Does that include a couple of brewskies?
And I thought 20 pesos was a lot...
Looks like a good one man business, surprised no one up here is doing that. Probably the liability insurance and toxic runoff would be a deal breaker!
Just paid $50 pesos at my local Mega - just the outside ...
