Wallace and Gromit

Ok, how many of you know who these characters are to the right here?

I recently figured out a way to get Netflix hookup into Mexico and this was one of the series that is available to me now.

First of all, don't get all excited to the prospect of getting your
own Netflix hookup unless you know someone in the states that
will let you get a high speed DSL connection dedicated to setting up a Virtual Private Network (VPN).

I am sure that a lot of you have tried to hook up various services to your Internet like Netflix, Hulu , Pandora, at a myriad of other. The screen usually says that the service is not available in this area.

It can be done, but is rather involved.

The reason I had to set up the network is because I am doing a little consulting work for several people and needed a secure connection, where I could connect to their network.

One of the benefits is that my local connection in Patzcuaro provides me with a IP address which is actually stateside.
The only advantage that I can see at this point is being able to get unlimited movies downloaded for 10 bucks a month. I do have to admit that I have watched more movies in the last couple of months that I have in years.

The characters on the page are from an UK cartoon series called Wallace and Gromit. It is really a cute adult style cartoon, sort of like Southpark is, but on a much milder theme.

I only started watching Southpark after years of friends telling me how funny it was, I resisted watching until about a year ago and now I am hooked on the program. It is a politically incorrect show which pokes fun on and at everything.

Funny how it is that being a kid how funny cartoons were, I remember seeing them and cheering when they came on the screen at our local movie house The Haight Theater in the city. Then during school years the Flintstones were out and I like a lot of my friends were glued to the TV on Friday nights.

Then after those years, cartoons for some reason ceased to be funny, I am sure that they were but maybe false sophistication prevented me watching them. After all, watching cartoons would be considered juvenile, wouldn't it?

Then about two or three years ago I notice that they had a unusual appeal again. Watching some of the older ones brought back grand memories, watching the new ones, bring in awe of how adult and sophisticated the humor presently is.

Wallace and Gromit , Southpark and The Simpsons now catch my eye.....

Interesting in a humorous sort of way.....

You have to have your head quite buried to not know of Wallace and Gromit.

We use a US IP address in front to get NetFlix - works here ;-)

Well I have had my head in the sand for awhile, I had never heard of them before a few weeks ago...
I enjoy that show!
I understand that there are several US providers that can do the IP address translation service. I will have to check up on that since a few people have asked me and the VPN was the only solution I knew.

Put me in the ostrich category. But I have missed a lot by not having television for the past 20 years.

I would try to use a disguised IP address, but my connection is so slow, flipping a picture book would give me better video. There are costs for living in the sticks. Wait. That is where you and Calypso claim to live.

First of all you really haven't missed much on TV, trust me. I only watch about a half dozen channels mostly educational channels or National Geographic.
As far as news, forget that, You give up a few of the tech things for living on the beach, you are lucky in a different sort of way.....
I won't tell you my Speed, you would get real upset...

Ah, Southpark, the Politically Correct way to live honestly. They pull no punches!
Love it.

Although departing friends gave us a tv, we haven't ever turned it on. When staying in hotels, we might watch for a while, but the cultural time warp is too powerful for us to do so for very long.

My family back in the States are tv watchers. They have two or three sets in the house, of which at least one is always on.

But, (get this): no Internet! How do they stand it???? When we visit, I have to walk 1/2 mile each way (beneficial exercise) carrying my laptop to a Starbucks or a Dunkin' Donuts. I have to have my Internet fix or go sheer raving bonkers.

Saludos,

PS: I have seen Wallace and Gromit. They were cute, but subtitles would have been helpful.

Jerry, what is great about Southpark is that they chide everyone...no one is safe harbor.
Sr.Cuevas, TV is a greater vast wasteland than it was in Mr. Minnows reign, with the Internet YOU can choose what you want to read, watch and learn... Or waste time in.
Wallace and Gromit with subtitles? Where did you see it that it needed subtitles? Your Spanish is indeed not needing subtitles....
