Христос воскрес! Воистину воскрес!

Tá Críost éirithe! Go deimhin, tá sé éirithe!
Tha Crìosd air èiridh! Gu dearbh, tha e air èiridh!
Chrystus zmartwychwstał! Prawdziwie zmartwychwstał!
¡Cristo ha resucitado! ¡En verdad ha resucitado!
Christ est ressuscité! Il est vraiment ressuscité!
Cristo è risorto! È veramente risorto!

I think I have most of my friends covered there........

This year the Russian Easter falls on the same day as Catholic Easter and the Passover, some years there are several weeks difference because of the Julian Calender.

Today looks like it is going to be a grand and beautiful Sunday. I had my usual ritual this morning, sadly thinking that the closest Russian Church is in Mexico City. That's one of the things that I miss on special days like this, it brings back many memories of growing up in the city, attending 3 to 4 hour church services with my family....
Hopefully the Lord will accept my feeble reverence outside amongst the trees for a few minutes.

I keep saying that one of these years I will put together a Russian Easter Dinner Table and invite a few friends over to sample what I grew up on, but substitutions will have to be made.

I use to help my grandmother prepare the Paska and Kulitch every year, maybe that's what plumped me up in my formative years.

One of the rewards was to clean the mixing bowl after she made the Paska. Paska is a Russian dessert that is made in a form like a pyramid and is made from bakers cheese, lots of eggs, butter, all those low calories real healthy items.

She always would make Kulitch also. That is a most sweet bread something like the Italian Panitone, but sweeter and much more dense and heaver. This was baked in metal coffee cans that were about 6 to 8 inch in diameter and 12 to 14 inches high. If you are ancient you will remember that coffee came in giant cans in the 40's and 50's.

For many it will be just another day, so make the most of it also!

Wishing all a very Happy Easter, Passover and Spring Break......

Now go enjoy your family and the day.....we woke up, what a blessing!

Oh, and for my other friends.......have a nice Sunday!

And a happy Easter to you. I thought of you at church this morning as we were exchanging our "he is risens." Heard it the first time when I lived in Greece, so, it still has a bit of orthodox ring to me.

Yes indeed He has risen gentlemen. I hope you both are having a delightful Easter.

Tancho, can I beg the recipes from you so I don't have to search the web for them and not get something as tasty as your grandmother's?
